Including Post-Abortion Counseling and Support
If you have had an abortion or abortions, you might have thoughts or feelings that have stayed with you. Perhaps you had a recent abortion and feel alone. Maybe you had an abortion years ago and never shared that experience with anyone. It’s also possible you may not have had access to the choice you wanted or the support you needed.
Women’s experiences with abortion are wide ranging. For some, it was a decision they made at a certain time or age and later came to regret. For others, they may have been coerced into having an abortion.
Symptoms of post-abortion stress may include:
- Bouts of crying
- Lowered self-esteem
- Drug and alcohol abuse
- Nightmares and sleep disturbances
- Inability to forgive oneself
- Suicidal urges
- Intense grief/sadness
- Difficulty with relationships
- Anxiety or panic attacks
- Emotional numbness
- Sexual problems or promiscuity
- Multiple abortions
- Eating disorders
No matter what the circumstances might have been, post-abortion healing is possible for every woman.
